Our department was established in 1999 as the Department of Biology and began offering master’s degree programs that same year. With the encouragement and support of our University Senate, the Department of Biology revised its curriculum and adopted the name “Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics” in 2012; that same year, the undergraduate program was launched and began accepting students. The Master’s Program continues today as the “Master’s Program in Molecular Biology and Genetics.” The Doctoral Program was launched in 2013 as the “Doctoral Program in Molecular Biology and Genetics.”
