The YTÜ KOOP Model (CO-OP – Cooperative Education), implemented as part of the company’s vocational training program, is an innovative reinterpretation of the traditional internship. Often confused with internships, the CO-OP program aims to foster collaboration between universities and the business world. It is important to note that while internships are mandatory in certain programs, the CO-OP program is based on voluntary participation.
The university introduces students interested in participating in the CO-OP program to employers in suitable sectors. The employer, in turn, begins preparing the student—who meets the desired qualifications—for the professional world during the CO-OP training period. Furthermore, research indicates that universities implementing the CO-OP program see an increase in their preference rates in subsequent years. In summary, the goal of KOOP is to strengthen the connection between the university and the business world by fostering a more organic integration.
The KOOP program is a full-time program. Students actively work at the workplace in accordance with the employer’s business hours.
