The Bachelor’s Program in Molecular Biology and Genetics enables students to apply the knowledge they have acquired in the fields of molecular biology and genetics to develop expertise in intra- and interdisciplinary fields such as genetics, genomics, developmental biology, medical biology and genetics, biotechnology, synthetic biology, and bioinformatics, and thereby to lay the foundation for and utilize the technologies of the future.
The program aims to develop innovative educational approaches based on interdisciplinary interaction and specialization, to continuously strengthen university-industry collaborations, and, in line with its vision of strong international recognition, to promote the exchange of international knowledge and experience.
The goal of our department is to
• To produce graduates with a strong knowledge base capable of conducting advanced research in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics, who have internalized scientific thinking and can use their scientific reasoning skills to develop solutions to theoretical or practical problems,
• Take responsible actions to ensure environmental sensitivity, sustainability, accessibility, inclusivity, and well-being; and have acquired skills in critical thinking, entrepreneurship, problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and lifelong learning;
• Possess the skills to use and develop current artificial intelligence and information technologies, and have the ability to apply the knowledge gained in molecular biology and genetics to advance expertise in discipline-specific and interdisciplinary fields such as genetics, genomics, developmental biology, medical biology and genetics, biotechnology, synthetic biology, and bioinformatics,
• Capable of using molecular biology and genetics terminology in both Turkish and English, conducting research in their field, working effectively in teams, and presenting their work effectively,
• Possess the ability to set career goals and manage their careers, and as individuals committed to professional ethical values, are qualified to work in management, scientific research, and applied roles within national and international private-sector and public institutions,
to train molecular biologists, researchers, and scientists.
