The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Yıldız Technical University aims not only to make fundamental contributions to the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics but also to compete on a global scale in the field of Biotechnology. To this end, the department aims to train young researchers who possess scientific thinking skills, can develop interdisciplinary ideas, have the ability to generate knowledge and technology, and are entrepreneurial, innovative, and creative.

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES

Our graduates find employment at academic institutions both in Turkey and abroad, companies distributing consumables and equipment related to molecular biology and genetics, pharmaceutical companies, and institutions engaged in biotechnological research and production, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Ministry of Agriculture, in vitro fertilization (IVF) centers, hospitals and diagnostic laboratories, public health institutes, municipal engineering departments, forensic medicine institutes, police criminology laboratories,TÜBİTAK, and technology parks.

 

ACCREDITATION AND OPPORTUNITIES ABROAD

Under the Erasmus Mobility Program, efforts are ongoing to expand existing bilateral agreements for the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics for the 2013–2014 academic year, as well as to advance accreditation and international opportunities. 

 

INTERNSHIP INFORMATION

Students in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics can complete internships at DETAE (Institute of Experimental Medicine Research), Forensic Medicine and Criminology Laboratories, relevant institutes at the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, university research centers, laboratories in biophysics, immunology, oncology, etc., at medical schools, genetic diagnosis centers, pharmaceutical companies, industrial institutions and organizations engaged in biotechnology research and production, in vitro fertilization (IVF) centers, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Ministry of Agriculture, stem cell research centers, and cord blood banks, among other organizations.
