Molecular biology and genetics, mathematics, physics, and chemistry—the basic sciences—are the most important fields of science that expand humanity’s body of knowledge and make technological advancements possible. These sciences enable us to understand how the universe works, discover the laws of nature, and apply this knowledge to create innovations in engineering and technology. For example, molecular biology and genetics help us understand the structure and function of living organisms at the molecular level, agricultural, and environmental problems, thereby paving the way for revolutionary innovations in biotechnology and playing a critical role in shaping our modern world.
Our department’s graduates are engaged in pioneering work across diverse fields—from the diagnosis and treatment of diseases to the resolution of ecological problems, and from cancer research, renewable and sustainable agriculture, and food technologies to the development of biosensors, artificial tissues, and artificial intelligence. In shaping the future and improving quality of life, molecular biology, genetics, and molecular biologists and geneticists play a critical role, making significant contributions to the advancement of technology and science.
As the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Yıldız Technical University’s Faculty of Science and Letters, we are ready to welcome our students to the new academic year with many innovations. Our department, which offers instruction in the students’ native language, provides: offers optional preparatory courses, certificate opportunities through our updated curriculum, a multidisciplinary program featuring courses on Social Responsibility and Justice, Career Planning, Artificial Intelligence, and elective courses, as well as the opportunity to take graduate-level courses while still an undergraduate. In our department, we encourage student participation in national and international research projects in the cutting-edge fields of molecular biology, genetics, and biotechnology.
