Dear Students,
Mandatory and optional internships are designed to reinforce the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the undergraduate education and training program of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and are considered an integral part of the educational process. The duration and duration, and subject matter are determined in accordance with the principles set forth in the regulations, specifically the “YÖ-103-YTÜ Internship Guidelines” and the “DD-091-YTÜ Faculty of Science and Letters Internship Implementation Principles,” and are practical training activities to be conducted at private or public workplaces.
-Students in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics must complete one (1) required Professional Internship course in order to graduate. The internship period is 30 (thirty) working days and may be divided into a maximum of two parts:
a) 10 workdays and 20 workdays,
b) 15 working days each,
c) 30 working days in a single period,
in three different options.
-Students may complete their internships at private or public institutions that have a laboratory. The workplace where the internship is conducted must have at least one Biologist or Molecular Biologist on staff. In sectors where the majority of employees are not Molecular Biologists or Biologists (e.g., chemical and pharmaceutical companies, etc.), students completing their internships must submit documentation proving that a Molecular Biologist or Biologist is employed at the institution.
Internship Application Procedures and Important Notes:
1- Prepare all your application documents in full and submit them to the internship committee at least 10 days before your internship start date.
2- Work performed on official holidays and the day before a holiday will not be counted toward the internship period.
3- Students may not complete their internship on days when they have classes (whether in-person or online) or exams.
4- Internships may be conducted during the academic term, summer school, and final exam periods, provided they last at least three (3) business days per week and do not conflict with classes or exams.
5- Internships may be conducted for a minimum of 3 workdays and a maximum of 7 workdays per week. Internships may be conducted on Saturdays and/or Sundays, provided that a document is submitted showing that the workplace operates full days on weekends.
6- The days of the week on which you will complete your internship must remain consistent throughout the internship period. For example: Students who will complete their internship on 3 workdays per week—such as Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday—cannot designate Tuesday and Friday as internship days in any given week. Based on this information, a properly marked internship schedule (including first name, last name, date, and signature) must be prepared.
7- You must complete the “Company/Institution Approval” section before the application deadline specified below. Otherwise, your internship documents will not be approved.
For Company Approval:
i) The FR-1877 YTÜ Internship Application Form must be filled out completely on a computer, approved by the host organization with a stamp and signature, and signed by the student.
ii) When filling out the FR-1936 Internship Stipend Unemployment Fund Contribution Information Form, please consider the following scenarios:

c) If the internship is conducted under the National Internship Program or is optional (voluntary), the FR-1936 form is not required.
8- Students who wish to complete two separate internships (mandatory internship / voluntary internship) within the same period may begin their second internship 10 days after the completion of their first internship, to ensure the Faculty Council Decision and SGK registration procedures are carried out smoothly.
9- For “VOLUNTARY” internships conducted under the National Internship Program, no documents need to be submitted after the internship. For all other voluntary internships, submission of the required documents is mandatory.
10- There is no online document submission in the internship procedure. Documents must be submitted in person, and approved documents must also be received in person. Requests for online document submission cannot be made to the Internship Committee!!!
11- Students who receive a medical report during their internship must submit it to the MBG Department Internship Committee within 2 days at the latest.
12- All documents must be completed electronically; handwritten documents will not be accepted.
13- When preparing documents, their format must not be altered!!! If a document is one page, it must be submitted as one page. Care must be taken to ensure that sections such as signatures do not extend to the back page.
